The transfer circuit has triangular characteristics relating its input voltage to its output voltage and is made by connecting a number of identical non-linear stages in series. Each such stage has transfer characteristics given by Ua = V(Ue) - Us, where Ue is the input voltage, Ua is thethe output voltage, V is the gain and Us is a constant voltage. The advantage lies in the circuits reducing the conversion time when used in an A/D converter. The reduction is possible because only semiconductor components determine the transmit time. The circuit can also be used for storage.
