The resin can be produced by condensing acetone and formaldehyde under alkaline conditions at 20-100‹ C. in a ratio between 1 : 1À5 and 1 : 5. 10-100 parts (based on the weight of the resin solids) of a 30-60 wt. per cent solution of the resin can be used per 100 parts of cement. The mix can also comprise sand, gravel and 20- 200 parts of wood chips per 100 parts of cement and can be cured at 30-200‹ C. and up to 180 atmospheres. The mixes used in the examples can comprise sand, wood chips or urea-formaldehyde resin solution in addition to Portland cement and acetone-formaldehyde resin dissolved in water, isopropanol or methanol.</p> |
