<p>The new antibiotic Nikkomycin is produced by culturing the strain Streptomyces tendae Ettlinger et al Tu 901 in a nutrient medium at a pH of about 5.5 to 8 under aerobic conditions and isolation by cation exchange from the culture filtrate, followed by elution. The antibiotic is believed to have the structural formula <IMAGE> +TR <IMAGE> and is characterized by fungicidal activity.</p> |
