The moulded plastic foot (5) is secured to the car and presents an upright lip with a hole (9) through it. the mirror mounting is a hollow plastic moulding which fits over the foot and has an eccentric cam (17) mounted through it. The cam fits through the hole in the lip and secures the mounting to the foot. Any twisting of the cam, with a special tool, locks the two components together in one rapid action. The mounting is simple to produce and enables the mirror to be rapidly fitting on mass produced vehicles. With an all plastic construction, including the cam, it is difficult to damage through overtightening.
