1513210 Silica-based refractory F V MERKER 24 Dec 1976 [31 Dec 1975] 54046/76 Heading C1J [Also in Division F4] A refractory material consists of a mixture of crushed and graded silica, e.g. quartz or quartzite, a sintering agent for the silica, and a carrier compound of Cr 2 O 3 , said mixture having a granulometry such that after tight packing its porosity will be less than 25% and that after sintering or calcination the quantity of Cr 2 O 3 present in the refractory will be between 4% and 8% of the total. The sintering agent may consist of B 2 O 3 or H 3 BO 3 . A small quantity of binding agent, e.g. phenolic resin, may also be used. |
