Polycarbonate compsns. comprise (A) an aromatic polycarbonate material and (B) a stabiliser mixt. of (i) a carboxylic acid R-(COOH)a (where R=1-24C alkyl gp. and a=1-3), and (ii) a metal salt of a carboxylic acid of formula R'(COO-)b c M+x y (where R'= 1-24C alkyl gp., m=gp. II metal; and b,c,x and y=1 or 2). The stabiliser mixt. gives prods. with good resistance to thermal degradation and embrittlement on heating. A suitable stabiliser mixt. is e.g. ethylhexane carboxylic acid and Ca stearate. Pref. the (i) and (ii) are added in amts. of 0.005-0.05 wt.% each on the total compsn. |
