The invention comprises monoazo dyes of the general formula wherein X is hydrogen or nitro and A is an optionally substituted aryl radical e.g. phenyl substituted by chlorine, bromine, alkyl or alkoxy, and their chromium and cobalt 1: 1 and 2: 1 dye: metal complexes and mixed complexes with other metallizable dyes e.g. of the benzene-azo-benzene, benzene-azo-naphthalene, benzene-azo-pyrazolone, benzene-azoaminopyrazole, benze - azo - acetoacetyl - aminobenzene and benzene-azo-barbituric acid series. Conventional methods of preparation of the dyes and metal complexes are used and coupling in presence of isopropyl alcohol is described. The dyes give grey, olive and brown shades on natural and synthetic polyamides e.g. wool, nylon, leather. |
