<p>Heat exchangers of synthetic material are produced by extrusion blow of forming. A sufficient gas pressure is maintained inside a hollow extrusion at a temp. above plasticisising point, and this is led between two endless rotary forming tools. These run at the same speed as the extrusion cooling it to below its plasticising temperature, before releasing the moulded product. At certain points the opposing walls of the hollow extrusion are brought into contact by the forming tools and welded locally; the forming tools being designed so that a heat exchanger with two header channels are interposed branching channels, is moulded continuously. The heat exchanger can be produced in any length in a single operation, and finds application as radiators for space heating, water coolers, solar heat collectors, etc. With a plastic transparent to UV light the mouldings can be used for the sterilising of fluids.</p> |
