The system achieves high head pumping operation with an improved efficiency, using positive displacement pump. The basic idea of the proposition is that the prime mover does not constitute a gap in the closed vessel system, but functions as a moving part of the surrounding vessel shell. This results in an improved efficiency, lower losses and an extended scope for application, as far as utilisation of large heads in storing operations, as well as utilisation of thermal energy, is concerned.
