Bearing race chipless forming - uses blanks with plain inner surface shaped outer surface and profile roller acting from inside

The chipless forming of bearing races uses blanks with plain ineer surface, but with the outer surface of approximately the same shape as the expected inner surface of the finished product. The formin tools are chosen in such manner that, under pressure, applied from outside, the inner surface is given the desired shape. Preferably the rolled blank is produced in a roller mill with rotary rolls adjustable in radial direction. The outer roll provides the inner surface shape, while the outer surface is shaped by the inner roll so that only relatively small deformation force is needed for polishing.
