摘要 1430121 Steam reforming HITACHI Ltd 29 May 1973 [2 June 1972] 25386/73 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] A gaseous hydrocarbon feed selected from methane, liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, butane, hexane, petroleum light distillates, naphtha and off-gas from processes using hydrocarbons as feed are steam reformed at 350 -900‹ C. and a pressure of 1 to 50 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> in the presence of a catalyst comprising a refractory oxide carrier, at least 3% wt. of nickel (calculated as NiO), at least 2 mg.-atoms of silver per 100 gm. catalyst and, optionally, a rare earth component. If the feed is an off-gas containing up to 15% volume of olefinic hydrocarbons, then this may be directly steam reformed without need to pre-treat it using a hydrogenation catalyst to reduce the olefins to paraffins. The process may be used for the production of hydrogen gas, methane-rich fuel gas or synthesis gases for the methanol and oxosyntheses. The steam to hydrocarbon ratio may be as low as 0À75 moles of steam per gm. atm. of carbon in the feed. The examples describe the hydroreforming of (i) n-butane to give a product rich in methane and hydrogen; (ii) a naphtha of specified constitution and physical properties to give a hydrogen rich product, and (ii) a gas mixture containing methane, ethylene and hydrogen.
