1516090 Rubber particles RUBBER & PLASTICS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION OF GREAT BRITAIN 16 Sept 1975 [26 Sept 1974] 41847/74 Headings C3L and C3M Vulcanized rubber, e.g. tyre reclaim or crumb, is converted into particle aggregates, at least 90% of the aggregates being of size 10-200 microns which separate into particles at least 90% of which are of size 2-20 microns when dispersed in a rubber composition, by grinding in a colloid mill of the abrasive disc type with an excess of water. The products may be used as a reinforcing agent for an unvulcanized rubber. In one example the vulcanized rubber is a vinylidene fluoride/hexafluoropropene co-polymer, in others vulcanized rubber crumb is used. The ground product is incorporated into SBR and vulcanized or in the case of the fluoride copolymer into unvulcanized vinylidene fluoride /hexafluoropropylene copolymer and vulcanized. |
