<p>Electrical device, eps. a capacitor, has two electrically conducting elements placed at a certain distance from each other, so that an electrical potential difference exists between them, and a dielectric assembly placed between the elements. This assembly consists of a dielectric material composed of- (1) a polymer film; and (2) a fibrous cellulosic material; and a liquid dielectric compsn. impregnating the dielectric material. The liq. dielectric compsn. consists of a mixt. of a monohalogenated diphenyl oxide, and a monohalogenated diphenyl alkyl oxide, the alkyl group having 1-20C. Low dielectric losses. Excellent corona characteristics at -40 degrees C to +90 degrees C. Compared with polychlorinated diphenyls, the liquid dielectric compsn. is less toxic and more biodegradable, and has a lower tendency to concentrate in living organisms.</p> |
