The ignition distributor shaft is mounted in a bearing in a housing bottom. The bearing inner wall carries a support element with a second bearing, as in 2450753. In the support element (31) can be inserted a pressure member (20) which exerts a transverse force on the distributor shaft (40). The pressure member being of elastic plastics. Preferably the pressure member is annular with a bore (13) for the shaft. The bore centre point is offset to the centre point of the casing, thus forming a wider section which may contain a slot extending in the peripheral direction. The bore and the slot typically form a strip with an aperture. The contact breaker slide (45) may be mounted on the same radial curve (46) as the aperture.
