PURPOSE:To enhance the initial property and long-range reliability of a fuel cell by predetermining the specific surface area of a carbon carrier. CONSTITUTION:A carbon carrier is a mixture of carbon particles of specific surface area less than 100m<2>/g and those of specific surface area more than 300m<2>/g. The carbon particles are mixed together while in a state of secondary particles formed by aggregation of primary particles, and wetting of each carrier progresses independently of each other within the mixture. The carbon particles of specific surface area more than 300<2>/g are readily wetted, which secures the initial property of a fuel cell, whereas those of specific surface area less than 100m<2>/g are gradually wetted, which secures the long-range reliability thereof. |
