They may be prepared by condensing compounds having the formulae with an aldehyde or ketone of the formula R 2 -CO-R 3 to give a compound having the formula which is rearranged to give a compound of Formula (I) by the action of an acid. The compounds of the invention may be used as chain lengthening agents in the preparation of polyurethanes.
