Stoned cherries inspection device - using penetrating radiation with luminescent screen and photodiodes for operating rejection mechanism

Stoned cherries are checked by exposing them on dimples in a plexiglass pallet to gamma or X-rays. A luminescent screen below them is scanned by four photodiodes for each cherry dimple. Operation amplifiers act on a gate circuit and memory which operate a device for removing cherries with stones. This produces a 100% efficient grading which meets the demands for mfr. of chocolates contg. cherries. All manual inspection is saved and the device can operate at a high throughput rate.
