In process for cleaning fat- and food-soiled surfaces, water is added to a mixt. of CaO having small particle size, an ammonium salt and pref. pine oil in a container. A small quantity of water is contacted with mixt. at the beginning, to initiate an exothermic reaction. Container is introduced into an oven. Balance of water is combined with mixt. quickly, but at a controlled rate to complete reaction and generate steam and NH3 gas from container. The gases are deposited at inner surfaces of the oven. Used esp. for cleaning domestic ovens. Premature generation of steam and NH3 can be suppressed. Use of ammonium salt reduces strongly pronounced, unpleasant smells. Drying and hardening of cleansing agent and fat mixt. are prevented. The pine oil acts as solvent, coats CaO, delays reaction between water and CaO and acts as a deodorant disinfectant.
|
