<p>The process comprises cultivation of the microorganism Streptoverticillum mycoheptinicum on a nutrient medium contg. N- and C-sources and mineral salts, with subsequent sepn. of the mycellium from the culture fluid and isolation of the end-prod. The novel feature is that the strain of microorganism used is Streptoverticillum mycoheptinicum USSR-LiA-1514, which was selected from strain 44 B/1 by inoculation of its spores onto Czapek starch-agar medium contg. mycoheptin Na salt. Mycoheptin is active against the causative organisms of deep and systemic mycoses and against yeast. It is used for the treatment of coccidiosis, histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, chromomycosis, aspergillosis, sporotrichosis, and candidiasis. Mycoheptin is produced in improved yields, since the new strain of S. mycoheptinicum is 1.5 times more active than the parent strain in producing mycoheptin.</p> |
