A method of taking into account various events in the course of running a program, especially for a program used to carry out technical switching procedures in a network device. Before starting to run the program, at least particular incidents of relevant instructions are stored in a special detection- storage device (AS), with due regard being given to the interruption control device (IC) which generates an interrupt signal with any occurrence of the relevant incidents during running of the program. The operating procedures are then carried out by the processor system (CPU,M1,M2) in a transmission-on- demand mode, depending on the stored instructions. After completion of the respective operating procedures whether or not its subsequent occurrent is in the interrupt- or in the transmission-on-demand-mode is then taken into account.
