PURPOSE:To perform effective recovery of exhaust energy throughout the whole of a region of the number of revolutions of an engine during braking by a method wherein the feed of a power to a generator and a rotary electric machine and disengagement of a clutch are controlled according to the rotation speed and the load of an engine. CONSTITUTION:In a controller 6, when the rotation state of an engine 1 is within the high efficiency working region of a recovery turbine 3, the rotary shaft of the recovery turbine 3 is coupled to that of the engine 1 by means of an electric clutch 33 to recover mechanical exhaust energy. When the rotation state of the engine 1 is around the high efficiency working region of the recovery turbine 3, a rotary electric machine 4 coupled to the output shaft of the engine 1 is actuated by a generator by means of a power generated by a generator 32 connected to a recovery turbine 3. During braking of the engine 1, brake energy is converted into electric energy by both the generator 32 connected to the recovery turbine 3 and the rotary electric machine 4 actuated by the generator to recover the energy. |
