PURPOSE:To stabilize operation of a recovery boiler and increase of the efficiency thereof, by a method wherein the view-point of a radiation thermometer is scanned in a direction extending perpendicularly to a char bed, and on the basis of the obtained radiation energy strength distribution, a char bed level is measured. CONSTITUTION:A black solution, discharged during a chip-digesting process, is burnt to generate steam, and chemical raw material for chip digesting is recovered. A radiation thermometer 12, having sensitivity in a wavelength band being difficult to be influenced by radiation of a gas material in a boiler, is mounted to the furnace wall of a boiler. With the working of a scanning mechanism 15, the view-point of the radiation thermometer 12 is scanned in a direction extending perpendicularly to a char bed 11. Further, a char bed level measuring means, composed of a data processing part 17, a memory part 18, a char bed top temperature measuring part 20, and angle detecting part 21, an angle level converter 22, etc. measures the level of the char bed 11 on the basis of radiation energy strength distribution extending along the scanning line of the radiation thermometer scanned by the scanning mechanism 15. |
