The support, designed to prevent umbilical hernia and other complications, consists of a flat or ergonomically-shaped plate (2) with a hemospherical projection (1) on one side. It can be made from a supple or rigid material which can allow the skin to breathe by virtue of its shape-slits, channels or holes for aeration, or the material from which it is made, e.g. porous. The support can be made in one or more pieces and from different materials, such as plastic, wood, foam, fabric or silicone. It can be made in various sizes and should be compatible with the size and skin of a baby or young child, e.g. 3.2 cm diameter for the plate and 1.5 cm. for the hemisphere.
