1,173,455. Agitating slurries. NIRO ATOMIZER A.S. 22 Sept., 1967 [26 Sept., 1966], No. 43349/67. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F1] In order to prevent wear in a centrifugal agitator rotor when handing suspensions containing particles of hard materials, e.g. ceramic clay, kaolin or silica carbide, the discharge openings in the peripheral wall 3 of the rotor are lined with bushes 8 of wearresistant material, e.g. tungsten carbide, which project into the hollow interior of the rotor. The projecting portions of the bushes cause a protective layer of the suspended particles to be deposited on the internal surface of the peripheral wall 3. The length of the bushes is at least one quarter and preferably more than one third of the outer diameter of one rotor. The peripheral wall 3 may be integral with either of the side walls 5 or separate from both of them. |
