PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deviation of projection pixels of respective colors due to the power chromatic aberration of a projection optical system. SOLUTION: A composite prism 5 for color composition used as a color composing means of the projection type display element is constituted by mutually bonding 1st, 2nd and 3rd prisms 31, 32 and 33. This prism 5 has a blue light reflecting dichroic surface 35 and a red light reflecting dichroic surface 38. Further, a reflecting prism 40 is bonded to the prism 5 and has a chromatic aberration compensation part 41 for compensating the power chromatic aberration of the projection optical system. According to the reflection state of red luminous flux R at the chromatic aberration correction part 41, the power chromatic aberration of the projection optical system can be compensated to suppress the relative deviation of projection pixels of respective pieces of color luminous flux. |
