Conductive article is coated electrophoretically by immersing in an alkyd, epoxy or acrylic resin non-aqueous comp. which comprises (1) a suspension of the resin in an organic dielectric liquid a major proptn. of which is a non-solvent for the resin and a minor portion of which is a solvent for the resin, and (2) a pigment of 0.1-10 u particle size, the total resin and pigment conc. being 5-30 wt. % and the pigment/resin wt. ratio being from 1:2.5 to 1:6. The ratio of the dielectric constant of the liquid to that of the resin and of the pigment is to be at least 2 whilst the dielectric constant of the resin-and-liquid mixt. is 2-6.
