PURPOSE:To enable the use of a heat exchanger as an evaporator, by a method wherein an air-liquid distribution of a coolant in tilting tubes is brought into such a state as prevents from reduction in a heat exchange efficiency. CONSTITUTION:On a coolant inlet port side, an inlet hole 11 of a coolant, flowing into the first stage tube 11 from an inlet header, is provided at only an air inlet port side (a). A fluid path of a spacer block 41 being laid between the first stage tube 11 and the second stage tube 12 is partitioned into a portion 41a, facing and connecting to the inlet hole 11, and other portion 41b, and a fluid path 42 of a spacer block 42 being laid between the second stage tube 12 and the third stage tube 13 runs from the air inlet port side (a) to an outlet port side b without any partition. This enables the coolant flowing in each tube to flow such that unevaporated liquid coolant flows on the air inlet port side (a) and a gas coolant flows on the outlet port side b. Thereby the liquid coolant is distributed in proportion with difference in temperature between air and coolant, which results in improving a heat exchange efficiency.
