<p>The roller mechanism includes a support shaft attached to a plate with a collar. An arm is attached at right angles to this shaft by means of bearings so that it may rotate. The second end of the arm has a hole through it receiving a post which serves as a support for the roller. The roller is mounted on bearings to turn about an axis parallel to that of the main support shaft. The perpendicular screw clamps the support post into the end of the arm. An adjustable spring links the arm to a block which is attached to the support shaft. The block may be rotated to alter the spring tension, and clamped by a screw. The roller may thus guide, or apply tension to a magnetic tape.</p> |
