1,164,020. Moulding pastry. L. V. HODGE. 14 Feb., 1968 [29 Aug., 1967], No. 39386/67. Heading B5A. A length of pastry is wound into spiral conical form by hand-feeding on to a former supported on a chuck 18 mounted on a shaft 10 which is simultaneously axially displaced and rotated. The shaft 10 is rotated by engagement at a splined portion thereof with a drive-ring 12 which is rotated on one end of a tubular support 4 by a drive from a reversible motor, simultaneous axial displacement of the shaft 10 resulting from the engagement of a threaded portion 9 thereof with at least one bearing ball 8 housed within the other end of the support 4. The pastry is wound on outward movement of shaft 10 from a machine housing 5 as determined by a limit switch 24, whereupon the former and pastry spiral is removed. Reenergization of the motor from a switch 26 automatically reverses the rotation thereof until halted by limit switch 25, whereupon the motor is again similarly reversed. The former is resiliently held on the chuck 18 by rubber rings 22, and an O-ring seal 21 between the support 4 and a rearward chuck extension 20 prevents ingress of pastry to the machine mechanism. |
