Soffit panels 1, of e.g. P.V.C. for the eaves of a building, are held in position by a plurality of brackets 4, each of which is in the form of a flat plate nailed to a rafter, the panels and brackets being complementary shaped for snap-engagement. Plugs formed at the lower edge of the bracket may resiliently interfit with sockets in the panel or, as shown, the panels are provided with ribs for engagement with complementary shaped sockets on the brackets, rods 2 inserted in the ribs locking the panels in position. Each bracket is reinforced by integral flanges extending either side of its lower edge (Fig. 2A) and the flanges may be of such a width as to enable the bracket to be used as a union bracket (Fig. 3A).
