PURPOSE:To provide possibility of controlling vibrations of a mass in a vibration damper, in which a mass is slidably supported in a oil-encapsulated cylinder interposed between springs, by installing a variable throttle penetrating the mass. CONSTITUTION:A case 1 is filled with oil, and one end of a conduit 2 is fixed to the inner surface of a lid 1a and the other end is protruding into the case. An adjusting rod 3 is composed of a roud part 3a and a semicircular part 3b; the round part 3a is inscribed in the conduit 2 and penetrates the lid 1a rotatably, the other end protrudes into the case. The outside and inside surfaces of mass 4 are in contact with the inner wall of the case 1 and the outside surface of the conduit 2, respectively, to slide freely in the axial direction. When a ring-shaped mass 5 moves to the right and left owing to vibrations while pressing the right and left springs 8, 8 alternately, oil in the right and left oil chambers connected to the mass 5 flows accordingly into the other member's side chamber alternately through the center hole in the mass 5, whose size can be adjusted according to the phase of rotation of the adjusting rod 3 with respect to the stationary conduit 2. The resistance against the oil flowing in this passage here and there will damp the right and left movement of the mass. |
