This concentrator enhances and facilitates maintenance operations by automatic trials or tests of the system, making it possible to identify a faulty card and to isolate it, and also to carry out other operations relating to the installation and the expansion of the system. This concentrator comprises a central unit (1), or several combined units, and a certain number of operator stations (2), up to 256 at the maximum, grouped together in such a way that each control card is linked to two of these stations by an intermediate distributor, the whole allowing very easy maintenance (the cards are interchangeable) and the expansion of the system by a simple operation. <IMAGE>
