<p>This disclosure is of an article exchange mechanism of the type suited for use in exchange of tools or workpieces in a machine tool. The mechanism is asymmetrical in the sense that each of the positions between which articles are exchanged may be at a different distance from the origin of coordinate axes extending through these positions. A support structure or hub is mounted for rotation on an axis which does not pass through the origin with a pair of exchange arms mounted at diametrically opposed positions on the hub. The arms rotate about axes transverse to the hub axis as the hub rotates so that the positions in space of the arms are exactly exchanged.</p> |
