PURPOSE:To display a picture which is more stereoscopic and full of presence and reality by a picture display device constituted of a picture generator for displaying the picture and an optical system for guiding a luminous flux from the picture generator to the pupil of an observer. CONSTITUTION:In the picture display device constituted of the picture generator 11 for displaying the picture and the optical system for guiding the luminous flux from the generator 11 to the pupil of the observer; the optical system is provided with a relay optical system 12 and a reflecting surface whose shape is not rotationally symmetric with respect to the optical axis of the optical system 12 and which has optical power along the luminous flux going toward the pupil from the generator 11 and a virtual image surface 16 formed by the optical system is made a curved surface. |
