PURPOSE:To prevent a recording sheet with characters printed using a different font from a font designated by an external device from being used unnecessarily, if the selection of a font designated by a font selection command from the external device failed. CONSTITUTION:A printer control unit 1000 receives a font selection command from a host computer 3000 and interprets whether the selection of font data designated by the selection command is a success or an error. In addition, if the interpretation result indicates a font data selection error, the printer control unit 1000 notifies the host computer 3000 of information on the font data selection error. The host computer 3000 sends a command for instructing the suspension of a printing action to the printer control unit 1000, if the host computer 3000 received the information on the font data selection error from the printer control unit 1000. |
