Preparation of alpha(-aminophenyl) carboxylic acids having the formula: (in which R represents an opt. functionally modified carboxylic acid group, R1 is H lower alkyl or -Delta, R2 is H, halogen or -CF3 and represents a 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic moiety unsatd. at the 3 position of the rings) by a) reaction of where X1 is a replaceable group with a cpd. which will replace X1 by -CH(R1)-R b) reaction of where X2 replaceable with a cpd. which will replace X2 by c) reaction of a X3-CH(R1)-R in which X3 is a phenyl residue opt. partially saturated carrying at its 4 position and R2 at is 3 position to produce the required material of formula (I) or (d) reaction of in which R degrees 2 is transformable with a cpd. which substitutes H, Hal, or -CF3 for R degrees 2. - The cpds. (I) are useful in the treatment of arthritic and dermatopathological inflammation).
