PURPOSE: To interpolate and generate pseudo beams without intensifying lateral flow in forming an ultrasonic image. CONSTITUTION: Echo data on two adjacent ultrasonic beams are stored in line memories 28, 32. A beam interpolation part 30 generates pseudo beams between them. In this case, two echo data of the same depth are compared with each other, the value of the interpolation data is made to approach to the mean value of the two echo data, as the difference is smaller, and the interpolation value is made to approach to the lower value of two echo data, as the difference is larger. High bright echo data existing in a isolated state is thus prevented from flowing in the lateral direction by interpolation. |
