PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store sufficient energy in a light storage member in a short time, to cancel the distorted look of liquid crystal(LC) display and further to suppress the increase of space and component cost when providing a protecting cover, regarding the LC devices. SOLUTION: Concerning an LC device formed by packaging an additional element such as an IC for LC drive in an LC panel 1 formed by sealing an LC 9 between a pair of substrates 3a and 3b, this LC device displays an image outside at least one substrate 3a. A light storage member 12 having light transmissivity is provided outside the substrate 3a on the side to display the image. Since external light is made directly incident to the light storage member 12, the sufficient energy can be stored inside. Besides, since there is no ruggedness on the surface of the light storage member 12, the display does not look distorted. Further, since any other additional element such as a light source is not packaged in the light storage member 12, the member itself can be utilized as the protecting cover.
