Novel compounds of general Formula I and acid addition and quaternary salts thereof wherein A is a direct bond or methylene radical, Y is an alkenyl or hydroxyalkenyl radical having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms and B is a mono- or di-cyclohexylamino, piperidino, n-butylethanolamino, methyl-piperidino, hydroxypiperidino, hexamethyleneimino, heptamethyleneimino or pyrrolid-2-one radical, with the proviso that if A is a direct bond and Y is a methylene group, B is not a mono- or di-cyclohexylamino or piperidino radical, are prepared either by reacting a compound of Formula II wherein X is an oxygen atom or an -NH radical with an amino compound of formula H 2 N-Y-B or by reacting a compound of Formula I above in which B is a halogen atom with an amine B-H, where B is as defined above. Halides of the Formula I above, wherein B is halogen, are prepared either by reacting a compound of Formula II above wherein X is -O- or >NH with a compound of formula H 2 N-Y-OH, followed by reaction with a halogenating agent, or by reacting a compound of Formula II above wherein X is > NH with a dihalide of formula Halogen-Y-Halogen. Pharmaceutical compositions having antifibrillary activity comprise an above novel compound or salt and a pharmaceutical carrier or excipient.
