The record player control mechanism consists of a radiation source, an optical system, a photodetector, a position detector and a shifter. The optical system condenses the beam onto a recording medium. The radiation source, optical system (13, 14) and photodetector (15) are symmetrical about the same axis. There is a cylindrical mirror (20) which contains the radiation source and the optical system. They are supported on a spring (21), which is made with grooves and a cylindrical mirror which can be shifted at right angles to the spring and can be rotated about several axes which intersect in a perpendicular direction.
