Fibre and film-forming copolyester comprises residues of (a) one or more aromatic dicarboxylic acids, (b) one or more C 2 -C 10 aliphatic glycols and/or 1,4-bis-(hydroxymethyl)-cyclohexane, and (c) 2 to 30 mole per cent (based on the acid residues) of 2,2,4- and/or 2,4,4-trimethylhexane- 1,6-diols. A branching compound may be present in the copolyester in an amount up to 3 mole per cent based on the acid. Specified acids are terephthalic and isophthalic acid and ethylene glycol. Branching compounds specified are glycerol, pentaerythritol, arabitol, sorbitol, mannitol, trimellitic acid, trimesinic acid, pyromellitic acid and 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid.</p> |
