The support spokes have two different lengths and the contact points between the longer support spokes and the supported spokes are located at a distance from the spoke pivot axes which is less than the distance from the spoke pivot axes to the contact points between the shorter support spokes and the supported spokes. When the umbrella is unfolded, the longer support spokes lead to a more horizontal orientation of the front spokes compared with that of the other spokes associated with the shorter support spokes. The umbrella has a conventional shape when folded away.
