<p>A coarse screen grid unit for sepg. the large solid detritus from waste water and sewage, is inclined to the rear at an angle of the order of 30 degrees to avoid jamming by rags, etc. The rods of the grid have their upper portions extended towards the rear by curved parts. The links of the endless chain are fitted with teeth which pass between the rods of the grid. The chain passes over lower and upper toothed rollers, a castellated drum is mounted on the same shaft as roller and receives the rods as they pass over the summit. This ensures that the air-gap between the rods is maintained. and that the summit of the drum presenta smooth surface and allows the detritus to be readily transported into the recipient provided. A peripheral cavity in the drum serves for the passage of the foot of a tooth when one reaches the drum. More flexible and reliable operation of the appts. is achieved by avoiding blockages which can cause loss in working time. To reduce friction, the drum and the rods can be covered with a film of plastic material.</p> |
