Combination of electrical connectors

The plug connector has an insulating plastics housing (10), provided with contact elements cooperating with complementary contacts of a second plug connector. One group of contact elements are provided as contact pins, a second group of contact elements provided as contact sleeves. The contact pins and the contact sleeves may have the same insertion direction and may be positioned adjacent one another in a given region of the plug connector housing.
