The present invention relates to a sensor system for a vehicle, comprising a plurality of sensor devices, which are designed to acquire raw data relative to an environment of the vehicle and to calculate and output for each acquisition time at least one occupancy grid from the acquired raw data, and a control device, which is designed to calculate a merged occupancy grid based on the individual occupancy grids of the sensor devices and to temporally accumulate the merged occupancy grids calculated for the different acquisition times and output an accumulated occupancy grid. The invention further relates to a corresponding method.
