PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of obtaining a satisfactory image quality and extending the service life of a recording head by suppressing the temperature rising of an inkjet head in an inkjet recorder. SOLUTION: In the inkjet recorder 1, an image is formed by discharging ink from an inkjet head 11 to a conveyed recording medium W, and the maintenance of the inkjet head 11 is performed with a cap 13 freely attachable to and detachable from the inkjet head 11 and with a suction pump 31. With an air intake 17 formed in the cap 13, with an exhaust port 19 formed at a different position, and with the cap 13 mounted on the inkjet head 11, a prescribed gap E is formed between the cap and the inkjet head 11. The inkjet head 11 is cooled by an air flow produced by the suction pump 31, wherein the air from the air intake 17 flows through the prescribed gap E and is discharged from the exhaust port 19.
