PURPOSE:To make the assembling easier and to improve durability by holding a plastic optical fiber between two sheets of rubber mats so that the plastic optical fiber is deformed by pressing. CONSTITUTION:A plastic optical fiber 1 is held between two sheets of rubber mats 2 and 2', projections 3 are provided at the lower side of the rubber mat 2, and recesses 4 are provided at the upper side of the rubber mat 2' at the positions responding to the projections 3. The reduction of the quantity of light owing to the leakage of the light flowing through the optical fiber to the outside resulting from a deformation of the optical fiber is detected by a light receiving element furnished at the final end of the optical fiber. As the optical fiber, a plastic optical fiber 1 with an excellent bending strength is used. In such a composition, the pressure detecting mat can be manufactured easily and at a low cost, and durability can be made excellent. |
