COLOR PHOTOGRAPHIC ELEMENT CONTAINING SPEED IMPROVING COMPOUND IN COMBINATION WITH ELECTRON TRANSFER AGENT RELEASING COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the photographic speed of a color photographic element. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a color silver halide photographic element comprising a substrate bearing (1) a light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer; (2) a nitrogen heterocyclic compound with a minimum of three heteroatoms which is located in either in the light sensitive layer or in a layer adjacent to it and which does not react with the oxidized developer, does not contain free thiol substituents, and has a ClogP sufficient to increase the photographic speed of the element compared to the element without the compound; and (3) an electron transfer agent releasing compound(ETARC) which is located either in the light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer or in a layer adjacent to it and which releases an electron transfer agent with a ClogP of at least 2.40 by reaction with the oxidized body of the developing agent.
