摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for a friction stir welding of an aluminum-based extrude shape material by which a deformation of ribs and/or a buckling at the minimum thickness part of the ribs at the upper part of a butted part, a defect of a welded part induced by the generation of a gap between the outer faces of the ribs are not generated in a butt welding of the outer faces of the ribs of extruded shape material, and an aluminum-based extruded shape material for the friction stir welding. SOLUTION: The aluminum-based extrude shape material formed in advance so that the minimum distance W1 between the outer face of a stir pin 4 plunged into the upper part of the butted part 2 of the outer face of the ribs and the inner faces 1as and 1bs of the ribs under a planned joining depth h (mm) is >=0.6 mm and <=1.8 mm, preferably >=1.2 mm and <=1.8 mm, and the friction stir welding is performed.
