PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension measuring device and a tension measuring method which can exactly and stably measure tension of an object to be measured. SOLUTION: A shock force is given to a belt 34 with arm members 18 and 20, a vibration waveform of the belt 34 which is given a shock force is detected with a microphone 42, and the tension of the belt 34 is calculated with a belt tension meter 44 from the vibration waveform detected with the microphone 42.
